About the Story

Rei Kurayami, a prodigy bound to an angelic Will, becomes his reluctant ally. Izumi Rin, a former faction Lord, joins their flight through war zones and ruined cities. Together, they face commanders who could level mountains, prophecies that cannot be changed, and a rising king whose goal is the end of everything.

What Readers Say
The action scenes are cinematic without ever turning into messy light shows. Seiki abilities feel like extensions of personality rather than random power-ups. The chapter where Rei loses control and explodes is the moment I knew this story was special. It is brutal, emotional, and feels earned after everything he has been through. It is easily one of the best scenes on Royal Road right now.
The pacing is tight, the dialogue feels natural, and the tone stays consistent. There is no filler. There are no awkward jokes that break immersion. This is dark fantasy with weight, but it never becomes edgy for no reason. The emotional moments hit, and the violent moments matter.
Overall, this is an easy 5 out of 5. If you want a story with depth, power, worldbuilding, and characters who actually feel human, The Last Genesis is absolutely worth reading. This deserves a much higher ranking, and I hope more people discover it soon.
The main trio is the strongest part of the story. Rei stands out as one of the most compelling new characters I have read in a long time. The worldbuilding is large in scale but still easy to understand, and each faction feels distinct and alive.
